THE PROBLEM
Irish Waste operate a large fleet of various vehicle types from Artic Jet Vacs, forty foot curtain side trailers, vacuum tankers, chain lift skip lorries through to small transit vans. Although most jobs are prebooked reoccurring, one off’s or periodic, a large number of jobs are emergency or ad hoc and a are a mixture of hazardous and non hazardous.
Although the current ERP system exports and lists jobs by date range, it can be time consuming for administrators to establish vehicle and driver/operator availability. A manual daily calendar is maintained, but this isn’t ideal as it’s not easily accessible to all admin staff. Magna were asked to provide design and implement an electronic version of the booking diary.

THE SOLUTION
Dedicated planner portal with daily jobs view, custom designed user interface built in ReactJS with NodeJS backend API’s which is fed by dedicated hosted MS SQL Database that is synced continually via Windows console service to locally hosted ERP platform. The Windows app interrogates various ERP elements such as job allocation records, driver time and attendance and vehicle maintenance providing live resources availability.
The site provides a visual representation of all jobs on a day to day basis selected from calendar control, two views are provided by driver or vehicle with driver names or vehicle registrations and descriptions as the left column key with relative job slots on each respective row coloured depending on job type with summary information cards.
When any card is clicked upon full job information is displayed in left pop out panel. Jobs can be re-assigned by drivers / vehicles or date within the portal and the sync app will apply back to main ERP platform. The portal allows administrators to quickly establish driver / vehicle availability for up to a month in advance.
